Baron Smith of Finsbury is the official title of Lord Chris Smith who became Britain's first openly gay member of parliament when he came out in 1984. He went on to serve over 20 years in the House of Commons before becoming the Secretary of State for Culture, Media, and Sport under Prime Minster Tony Blair in 1997.
