Julio Rivera of Daytona Beach, Florida was arrested in July for spitting on a South Daytona firefighter and then admitting that he is HIV positive. He is currently charged with one count of intentionally transmitting HIV and a lot of other charges. It is not clear from media reports if the firefighter actually tested positive for the virus or not, but seeing as how he was charged before a traceable amount of HIV could have been detected, it appears to be an allegation based on exposure. Even if the transmission attempt was not successful, which is almost never when exposed by saliva, the spitting alone could be enough to convict him of a lesser charge of attempted HIV transmission. #juliorivera #hivandaids #daytonabeach #florida
