Former The Czars guitarist John Grant announced that he is HIV positive in June of 2012 while on stage at a music festival in London. He is originally from Michigan and joined The Czars in Denver, but credits moving to Iceland with saving his life due to the out of control lifestyle he lived elsewhere. A lifestyle that included reckless sex with other men in the1980s when the AIDS epidemic struck fear into every American bath house.
